The Institute For Families of Blind Children is a non-profit organization that educates health care professionals on the need for early-in-life, thorough eye examinations. The mission of the Institute is to provide support, counseling and help for families when there has been a devastating diagnosis and to educate health care professionals on the importance of early diagnosis, through simple eye examinations.

The Institute has been working tirelessly to provide information to these professionals on the value of dilated eye examinations as part of well-baby care. Many pediatric eye diseases, including retinoblastoma (an increasingly common pediatric eye cancer), cataracts, retinal dysplasia, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and many other eye diseases can be treated more effectively preventing visual impairment, loss, and in some cases death if diagnosed and treated early. Institute for Families is dependent on private contributions to support its work.
